How it Works

01

Book and Customise
  1. Plan Your Adventure
Choose when you’d like to roam. Peak season is late May–August, with shoulder months in April/May and September/October. If you’re heading for Skye or the NC500, book your campsites early – these iconic routes get busy fast.
  2. Build Your Experience
Every trip is yours to shape. Add paddleboards, wetsuits, fire pits, premium bedding or even a picnic hamper. Our adventure add-ons mean you can create the trip that fits your style – whether it’s wild swims, mountain hikes, or evenings round the fire.
  3. Get Covered & Ready to Drive
Drivers aged 21–79 with 2+ years’ licence (UK, EU, AUS, NZ) are welcome. Comprehensive insurance and annual EU cover are included as standard, so you can hit the road with peace of mind.

02

Pick up & Prep
  1. Collect & Go
Start your journey from our base in the Ochil Foothills, the gateway to the Highlands. Free parking is available for your car during hire, and we offer airport transfers from Edinburgh or Glasgow (£80, or free if you’re with us for 7+ nights).
  2. Van Handover – Your Home on Wheels
We’ll give you a full run-through of the van – from heaters and gas to cooking kit and Wi-Fi. You’ll leave knowing exactly how everything works, ready to roam Scotland your way.
  3. Fuelled to Roam
Consider booking a click and collect from the local Tesco (Dunblane) or arrange a delivery slot to our base. Save your time for exploring the Scottish isles and not charging up and down the shopping isles.

03

Roam & Return
  1. Roam at Your Own Pace
Mileage is capped at 150 miles per day – not to rush you, but to encourage you to slow down, stop often, and take in the lochs, glens, and mountains around you. When booking ferries, choose “car/van/campervan” for the best rate (avoid the motorhome category).
  2. Adventure Safely
Scotland is yours to explore, but safety always comes first. For water activities, wear buoyancy aids and check conditions before launch – spots like Milarrochy Bay on Loch Lomond are ideal.
  3. Local Partners, Local Knowledge
We’ll point you towards the best in Scottish adventure: white-water rafting in Aberfeldy, mountain bike uplifts at Nevis Range in Fort William, and more. We’re locals who love to share the best of our backyard.
  4. Return & Reflect
Bring your camper back by 11am on your final day. We’ll check it over, release your deposit, and wave you off – hopefully already planning your next Highland Roamers adventure.
